Gas Prices in Perspective

I thought Jim Borgman of the Cincinnati Enquirer made a good point with this recent cartoon.

For some of his earlier work, see this archive.

It's only a matter of time before we have 'Starbucks' gas stations.

A fill-up for $3 would be a real hoot.
Unfortunately that is $3 X 10 gallons = $30.
It will be even less funny when the equation is $10 X 10 gallons = $100.
This is exactly where we will be if we cannot reduce demand.

The problem with this cartoon is that a Latte or a sadium beer is not necessary for survival, some may think so, but it's not.

However fuel for your automobile is necessary.

So it's not really an apt analogy.

'Starbucks' gas stations refers to availability of 'latte' priced alternative fuels at gas stations. I heard that Willie Nelson has 8 such gas stations near Nashville already.
